Sharahn Thomas

Sharahn Thomas is the Vice President of Content Operations at NPR. She directs the division's production resources, systems, processes, tools, and logistics, and leads its artificial intelligence initiatives.

With over twenty years of experience overseeing production operations, Sharahn began her NPR career in 1999 as an assistant producer. Her notable field and operational achievements include serving on the on-site production crew at the U.S. Capitol for the 2009 Presidential Inauguration and managing operations following the September 11 attacks—work that earned the Operations Desk a Peabody Award for its contribution to NPR’s coverage.

Before joining NPR, Sharahn was the Operations Manager for WNJT-FM at New Jersey Network (NJN). Her role at NJN spanned multiple broadcast disciplines, including presenting weekend television news, hosting a weekly radio program, and leading on-air membership drives.

Sharahn holds a B.A. in Mass Media Arts from Hampton University (1994) and an MBA from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business (2022).
