Stephen Langel

Health reporter/producer

Professional Bio

I’m an award-winning, well-sourced reporter, editor, producer, and communications professional with more than 25 years of experience.

I’ve covered federal politics and policy in Washington, D.C., including President Barack Obama's first inauguration and the fight to pass the Affordable Care Act.

I have also covered local healthcare developments and produced features about the needs and concerns of community members for the NPR affiliate in Northeast Ohio.

Much of this work involved community engagement, where I built trust with residents. This trust-building led to community storytelling that focused on the issues that mattered most to community members and that gave them a voice in addressing these issues.

I also mentor journalism students.
