Michael Walcher

Graduate, Northwestern University and Masters in Journalism from Columbia University. Worked 41 years in commercial TV News as a reporter and anchor in Iowa, Minneapolis-St. Paul market, and in Florida. Have taught journalism for nine years at Florida Gulf Coast University in the Fort Myers area of Florida. Some of the teaching was full-time, some part-time. Currently I am employed full-time as a reporter at WGCU News, public media for Southwest Florida. I reported the TV stories in this entry for WGCU's broadcast: Southwest Florida In Focus. I also report for WGCU-FM, the NPR affiliate here, and I write for our website. I also teach one upper-level class in news reporting and writing at the university.
