Ryan Vasquez

I have been the news director for WWNO and WRKF since January 2024 and Managing Editor for the Gulf States Newsroom since April 2025. I have a 19-year career in public broadcasting with stops at Alabama Public Radio, where I was a reporter and host, and WUFT in Gainesville, Fla., where I was the multimedia news manager, audio and led a largely-student newsroom.

I've also been an instructor and professor in journalism for 15 years at the University of Alabama, University of Florida, and Louisiana State University. I currently on the diversity, equity and inclusion committee for the Public Media Journalists Association and on the safety committee for the Radio Television Digital News Association.

I have a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida and a master's degree from the University of Alabama.
