Professional Bio
David Wright is a veteran journalist working across television, radio and digital platforms and part of the Ocean State Media team.
For more than two decades, he was a correspondent at ABC News, reporting on major news events in the U.S. and abroad. He covered the White House during President Trump’s first term. He has covered U.S. politics and the Vatican extensively. His reporting has also taken him to numerous conflict zones, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Congo, Darfur, Lebanon and Gaza.
David has won numerous national awards, including a Peabody, a DuPont and multiple Emmy and Murrow Awards. He also received a New England Emmy for a 2023 story he reported and produced for Rhode Island PBS Weekly.
He began his career in public radio at WBUR and KQED, where he hosted "The California Report," broadcast statewide.
A graduate of Harvard and Oxford, David met his wife Victoria while both were covering the 2005 papal conclave in Rome. They have three teenage daughters and a German Shepherd Dog.
