Steve Jess

I grew up watching the DJs at my hometown radio station through the big glass windows at the mall. From then on, radio was in my blood. I worked commercial stations in California, New Mexico, and Texas. But I found my groove delivering newscasts and doing longer-form production for KUAT, Tucson from 1985-1994.

I served as Statehouse News Bureau Chief for BSU Radio (now Boise State Public Radio) from 1994-2005.

After a career detour, I returned to public radio with as state capitol bureau chief with MTPR in Helena from 2014-2016, before returning to Tucson and Arizona Public Media in 2016, where I edit daily news stories and features, deliver PM drive newscasts, and produce the AZPM News Daily podcast.
